VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Aug. 22, 2026) — The No. 3 Las Vegas Aces (25-13) hit the road for their second trip north of the border to take on No. 13 Toronto Tempo (11-25) Sunday afternoon. This time, however, the teams will meet up at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, as part of the Tempo’s Cross Canada Series. The game tips at 4 p.m. (all times listed as PDT) and fans can watch on The Spot-Vegas 34 and on Aces Live, the recently-launched Las Vegas Aces streaming service.

Milestone Watch

A’ja Wilson currently has 908 points in 2026, 92 away from reaching 1’000. With 6 games left, she would need to average 15.3 points per game to reach the milestone. She would reach the 1’000-point mark for the second time in her career (2024) and still is the only player to accomplish the feat.

Playoff Picture
The playoff picture is becoming clearer by the day, with half the field set, including Minnesota (31-7), Golden State (25-11), Las Vegas and Indiana (24-13).

Tonight, Atlanta (23-13) can join the party with a win over Phoenix, leaving No. 6 New York (22-15), No. 7 Washington (21-15) and No. 8 Dallas (21-16) as the next three most likely to earn a spot.

With 6 games left in the regular season, the Aces will need to take care of business the rest of the way, as they are only a ½ game ahead of Indiana and 1 game ahead of Atlanta.

No. 3 Las Vegas Aces

The Aces are 4^th in the W in scoring (90.6 ppg) and will look to take advantage of Toronto’s league-worst 94.9 ppg given up to its opponents. Las Vegas’ scoring this season has been steady much as the Aces have been in recent memory, finishing in the top 5 in offensive rating every year since 2019. In 2026, they are 3^rd in that category at 111.9 OER and are 2^nd on the leaderboards in assists (21.9 apg). Further, Las Vegas is 3^rd in both field goal shooting (.482) and 3-point shooting (.359).

They are coming off their best shooting night in 8 games after hitting 49.3% overall against Connecticut. The Aces are taking care of the ball this season, allowing the second-fewest opponent points off turnovers at 13.3 per game.

Their defense, however, is how they’ve been able to pull out wins. Against Connecticut, the Aces scored 28 points off 19 Sun turnovers, tying the most they’ve scored this season, and limited the Sun to scoring no more than 16 points in either quarter in the second half.

The Aces continue to lead the W in blocks (5.0 bpg) — bolstered by Wilson’s No. 1 2.0 bpg — while standing in third defensive rebounds (25.9 rpg).

Aces bench production

After missing 10 games due to being in concussion protocol, Cheyenne Parker-Tyus notched season-highs of 18 points and 9 rebounds, including 6 O-boards, in 15 minutes against Connecticut. Las Vegas will be needing her bench production as the regular season winds down and playoffs begin.

Mai Yamamoto, who has scored in all but her first game this season, is finding her groove after joining the Aces in July. She saw a strong showing against the Sun, where she clocked an all-around performance with 9 points on 50% shooting, 3 assists and 2 rebounds for her most efficient game with a +7 plus/minus.

Speaking of all-around performances, Steph Talbot had her most efficient game of the season so far, clocking 5 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 1 block for a +24 plus/minus.

Jewell Loyd, despite the slight shooting slump the past couple games, has found other ways to contribute. Last time out she grabbed 5 rebounds and has dished out at least 2 assists the last 2 games. Around this time last year, Loyd was in similar scoring slump before averaging 12.4 ppg on 43.8% from the floor and 45% from deep over her final 5 games of 2025.

Toronto Tempo (11-25)

The Tempo were officially eliminated from playoff contention after losing to the Mystics on Aug. 19 and have 8 games left in their debut season. The new team on the block started out the season 7-5, but then began a slippery slope, going 4-20 after that, including losing 12 straight. Toronto finally picked up a win on Friday against Portland, its first since a 93-91 victory over New York on July 12.

Despite their record, the Tempo light it up from behind the arc, knocking down the fifth-highest number of 3s per game at 10.0, while shooting the fourth-highest 35.3% from 3-point range. The 2026 expansion team averages 87.5 points per game on 44.5% field goal shooting. Further, they capitalize on their opportunities from the charity stripe, sinking 81.0% — the W’s 5^th highest — of their 21.1 attempts per game.

On the defensive end, Toronto is last in defensive rating (115.3 DER) and corral the second-lowest number of defensive rebounds per game (23.1). They also allow 42.7 points in the paint and the most second chance points (14.4 ppg). The Aces, on the other hand, tally 39.5 points in the paint and 10.9 second chance points.

The Tempo are led by 2026 All-Star Marina Mabrey, who leads the league in made 3s at 3.3 per game and is fourth in the W in scoring with 20.8 ppg. In the 7 games since the loss against the Aces on July 20, Mabrey is averaging 20.4 ppg on 44.7% field goal shooting and 35.9% from deep. During that span, she scored in single digits in only one outing. However, the Tempo will be missing Mabrey’s firepower as she has been ruled out for the third game in a row due to a right adductor injury.

In addition to Mabrey, Toronto’s other top scorers will also be on the sideline Sunday — Brittney Sykes (18.6 ppg), Nyara Sabally (12.3 ppg), Aneesah Morrow (9.3 ppg), who the Tempo signed before the midseason trade deadline, and Maria Conde (9.0 ppg). Those 5 players make up 80.0% of the Tempo’s scoring production of 87.5 ppg. Veteran forward Isabelle Harrison (12.0 ppg), along with guards Kiki Rice (12.0 ppg) and Julie Allemand (6.5 ppg), and the rest of Toronto’s supporting cast will be counted on to fill the scoring void Sunday.

Last Time Out: The Aces rolled past the Tempo 109-83 in their last meeting on July 20 in Toronto. Las Vegas ended the opening frame with a 30-24 lead and never looked back. Wilson (26 points) and Young (24) combined for 50 points, and Young dished out a season-high 12 assists. The Aces also received 18 points from NaLyssa Smith, 14 points and 7 assists from Gray, and 11 from Loyd off the bench.

For the Tempo, Harrison led the team with 26 points and 11 rebounds, while Mabrey scored 14 points but shot only 1 of 8 from 3-point range. Toronto was without Sykes (foot) and Rice (ankle).

Up Next: The Aces next opponent does not change. Las Vegas faces off against the Tempo again in five days at ‘The House’ on Friday, Aug. 28. The game, which airs on ION, will tip off at 7 p.m. This will serve as the final game before the league breaks for the FIBA World Cup, which takes place Sept. 4-13 in Berlin. Five Aces players will represent their respective countries — Chelsea Gray, A’ja Wilson and Jackie Young for the United States, Talbot for Australia and Yamamoto for Japan.
