LAS VEGAS (Aug. 10, 2026) — After returning home from a 5-game, 9-day road swing, the No. 3 Las Vegas Aces (22-11) are back at Michelob ULTRA Arena to start a 5-game home stand, beginning with a pair of games against the No. 5 Washington Mystics (19-12) on Tuesday, Aug. 11, and Thursday, Aug. 13, both tipping off at 7 p.m. (all times PDT). Tuesday’s game will air locally on The Spot-Vegas 34 and Thursday’s contest airs on Prime. Tickets for Aces’ 8 remaining home games, which are expected to sell out, are still available via AXS here.

The Aug. 13 game marks the annual Cancer Awareness Night as the Aces are teaming up with Cure 4 The Kids Foundation and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund to turn cancer awareness into action. See below for more info on activations for Thursday’s Cancer Awareness Game.

Playoff Picture
On Aug. 9, the Seattle Storm were eliminated from playoff contention with Washington’s win, and the Minnesota Lynx secured their spot in the playoffs with a win over Dallas.

As of Aug. 10, the Aces are currently in 3^rd place in the league standings and are 1 ½ games behind No. 2 Golden State (23-9). Only 4 ½ games separate 2^nd and 8^th place, 2 games separate 3^rd and 7^th place, and 3 games are between 2^nd and 4^th place to potentially gain home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

With 11 games left in the regular season, this pair of games against the Mystics and the Aces next two games —No. 1 Minnesota (1-1) on Saturday and No. 6 Atlanta (2-0) next Tuesday, will be crucial for the Aces’ playoff seeding. Although the rest of the Aces regular season slate is against teams with a .500 or worse record, each game will be pivotal for playoff seeding.

No. 3 Las Vegas Aces

The Aces recently came off a 5-game road tilt, in which they went 2-3, but now return home for their next 5. Las Vegas is 9-5 overall at home this season, but 7-3 in its last 10 at ‘The House.’

The Aces own a 34-31all-time record over Washington, are 17-15 at home and have won 7 of their last 11 but dropped 2 of their last 3. Additionally, Las Vegas is 11-9 this season against opponents with at least a .500 record.

Since their last time out against the Mystics, the Aces have hit at least 10 3s in 4 of their last 7 games, including 3 of the last 4. They’re third in the W in 3-point shooting on the season at 35.8% with an average of 8.4 3s made per game.

The Aces are spearheaded by WNBA M’VP and Defensive Player of the Year candidate A’ja Wilson, who continues to lead the league in scoring (26.3 ppg) and blocks (2.0 bpg). Over the 6 games since the All-Star break, she has produced all but one game scoring at least 20 points, 4 double-double games with at least 25 points and 10 rebounds, and 4 games recording no less than 4 assists. Since the midseason classic, she’s averaging 27.0 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 3.7 apg, 1.8 bpg and 1.0 spg on 48.2% shooting.

The Point Gawd Chelsea Gray has recorded double-figure scoring in 4 of her last 6 games to go along with at least 4 assists in each outing since the last game against Washington.

After tallying 4 straight double-digit games to start August, NaLyssa Smith went quiet against New York with only 7 points on 3 of 8 from the field but notched 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Despite Smith’s low shooting percentage in New York, her 64.6% from the field this year ranks 8^th among all-time league leaders for a single season and stands way above her previous best of 50.2% in 2025.

Young has scored no less than 18 points in each of the last 8 games, to include 7 20-point outings, and improved her scoring from 16.7 ppg in the first half of the year to 24.2 ppg since the All-Star break.

No. 5 Washington Mystics

The Mystics are riding into Las Vegas on a 7-game winning streak, the league’s longest current winning streak. The last time Washington met Las Vegas this season, the Mystics came in with a barely-above-.500 record at 13-12 before the All-Star break.

During the winning streak, the Mystics are getting things done on the defensive end. Over the past 7 games, they lead the league in defensive rebounds (28.3 rpg), total rebounds per game (38.9) and blocks per game (5.1). Additionally, they are holding opponents to scoring 83.0 ppg, 17.3 free throw attempts, 6.9 offensive rebounds, 44.6% field goal shooting and 34.0% 3-point shooting — all ranked in the top 5.

On the other side of the ball, the Mystics are scoring 90.4 ppg while shooting 46.8% from the floor and 38.3% from deep, compared to all games in 2026, where they average the league’s second-lowest scoring output at 82.0 ppg, while shooting 44.0% from the floor and only 30.0% from 3-point.

Center Shakira Austin has been fueling the Mystics scoring as of late, notching at least 15 points in each of the last 7 games, including 4 games with at least 20 points, while hitting 54.8% of her field goal attempts. Austin, who averages 16.2 ppg and 9.6 rpg on the season, is averaging 21.2 ppg and 10.3 rpg during the winning streak.

Further, the Aces will need to limit the scoring of All-Stars Sonia Citron (17.1 ppg) and Kiki Iriafen (15.0 ppg). Against the Aces the last 2 years, Citron averaged 16.4 points on 45.6% shooting, while Iriafen averaged 14.8 points and 11.0 rebounds.

Washington also recently acquired veteran forward Betnijah Laney-Hamilton from New York late last week. A regular in New York’s starting rotation since she joined the team in 2021, the 2024 WNBA champion sat out in 2025 due to injury. Upon her return, Laney-Hamilton saw her minutes cut almost in half – from more than 30 in 2024 to less than 17 this season – and averaged 4.7 ppg, 1.9 rpg and 1.5 apg over 17 games with 5 starts for the Liberty. She has yet to step onto the court with the Mystics.

Last Time Out: The two teams previously met on July 22, which was the only meeting so far this year. A bad fourth quarter led to a nail-biting 100-99 Mystics win in our nation’s capital. Austin sealed the victory after an and-1 with 12.8 seconds left to move them ahead for the game’s final points. In a game that featured 13 lead changes, 7 ties and no double-digit leads, Wilson tallied her league-leading 8^th 30-point game of the season, Young notched 14 and Gray tallied 19 in the loss but missed a potential game winner right before the buzzer.

Further, the Mystics outscored the Aces 48-38 points in the paint, 19-9 second chance points and 23-12 off the bench, but the Aces outscored the Mystics 8-4 on the fast break and 12-8 off miscues. Additionally, Las Vegas turned the ball over 8 times compared to Washington’s 13, and the Aces are 11-4 this season when turning the ball over less than their opponent.

How the Aces are turning awareness into action Thursday:

For the Aug. 13 Cancer Awareness Game, the Aces are hosting its first-ever teddy bear toss at halftime in support of Cure 4 The Kids Foundation. Fans and media members are encouraged to bring new teddy bears or other small stuffed animals to toss on the court at halftime.
This season, the Aces are also shining a light on triple negative breast cancer, a disease that disproportionally affects Black women. Every 3-pointer made by the Aces will support the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Fans can also bid on items in the Shooting 4 a Cure Charity Auction, which includes autographed jerseys and basketballs.
Fans can stop by Section 114 or 126 to fill out their own ‘I Play For’ sign to be used in a special in-game moment.
