WNBA Schedule Released—Aces Begin Defense Of 2022 Championship at Seattle on Saturday, May 20

Las Vegas, NV (November 30, 2022)—The 2022 WNBA Champion Las Vegas Aces begin defense of their title at Seattle on Saturday, May 20 at 12:00 pm PT. It is the first of two road games to start the 2023 regular season for the Aces who travel to Los Angeles on Thursday, May 25 for a 7:00 pm tip.

The WNBA expanded its regular season schedule to 40 games in 2023, up from a record 36 a year ago. Las Vegas’ 20-game home schedule begins at Michelob ULTRA Arena on Saturday, May 27 at 6:00 pm against the Sparks.

The Aces play each opponent four times during the regular season, save for Washington, Indiana, Connecticut, and Chicago, whom they play three times apiece.

The Aces and the 2022 WNBA runner-up Connecticut Sun square off against one another at Connecticut on Tuesday, June 6 (4:00 pm) and Thursday, June 8 (4:00 pm), and in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 1 (12:00 pm).

WNBA legend Diana Taurasi makes what could be her final appearances in the Sports & Entertainment Capital of the World on Tuesday, July 11 at 7:00 pm, and in the season finale for both Phoenix and Las Vegas on Sunday, September 10. That game will take place at T-Mobile Arena, and tips off at 12:00 pm.

The WNBA Playoffs format remains unchanged, utilizing three rounds of series-play using a best-of 3-5-5 format. The eight teams with the highest winning percentages regardless of conference will qualify for the postseason, and be seeded based on their record. All eight playoff teams will participate in first-round, bracket-style play consisting of four best-of-three series.

The WNBA’s national and local television schedules will be released after the New Year, as will information regarding AT&T WNBA All-Star 2023, slated for Saturday, July 15, and the Commissioner’s Cup Championship presented by Coinbase on Tuesday, August 15.

Introduced in 2021, the Commissioner’s Cup is an in-season tournament pitting conference rivals against each other during the first half of the regular season. The 10 designated “Cup games” per team will be the first home game and first road game each team plays against its five conference rivals. The team from each conference with the top record in Cup games will compete for a lucrative prize pool in the Commissioner’s Cup Championship Game on Tuesday, August 15. The Aces won the 2022 Commissioner’s Cup championship defeating the Chicago Sky 93-83.

  • The Aces’ longest road trips of the year are 4 games on 2 occasions—June 2-8 at Atlanta, Indiana and Connecticut twice; August 22-28 at Atlanta, Chicago, Washington and New York. Last year, the team’s longest road trip was 5 games.
  • Las Vegas’ longest home stand is 5 games—June 24-July 5 vs. Indiana twice, New York, Connecticut and Dallas. Last season, the team’s longest home stand was 4 games.
  • 6 of the Aces’ first 8 games are on the road
  • The Aces play 6 of 7 games on the road from July 7-25 which includes the All-Star Break.
  • Las Vegas has two sets of back-to-back games—vs. Los Angeles and Minnesota at home on May 27 and 28, and at home against Phoenix and at Los Angeles on July 11 and 12. The Aces have not played back-to-back games in the regular season since the 2018 campaign when they played at Seattle on May 31 and at home vs. Washington on June 1.
  • This year’s season opener is on May 20. Last year’s schedule began on May 6 which was the earliest start date in the history of the league.
  • The final game of the regular season this year is September 10. The 2022 regular season ended on August 14.
