GAME RECAP: All Five Starters Score In Double Figures As Aces Top Storm, 85-74

LAS VEGAS (May 8, 2022)—All five Las Vegas (2-0) starters scored in double figures, Sunday evening, and A’ja Wilson and Dearica Hamby notched double-doubles in an 85-74 victory over visiting Seattle (1-1)

First Quarter (Las Vegas 26, Seattle 18)

The Storm led 7-6, but the Aces scored 10 straight to take a nine-point lead. Dearica Hamby and Kelsey Plum each scored 4 points during the run. Las Vegas eventually pushed its lead out to as many as 12 in the quarter. The Aces connected on 57.9 percent of their field goal attempts in the period. Las Vegas outscored Seattle 20-2 in the paint.

Second Quarter (Las Vegas 39, Seattle 33)

Seattle sliced the Las Vegas lead to 5 on three occasions in the quarter. The Aces shot just 31.2 percent from the field.

Third Quarter  (Seattle 59, Las Vegas 58)

The Aces led 47-39 with 6:51 to go in the third, but Seattle scored 13 of the next 18 points to tie the score at 52.

Fourth Quarter (Las Vegas 85, Seattle 74)

The score was tied at 61 early in the 4th quarter, and Las Vegas led by just four, 76-62, with 3:12 on the clock, but the Aces scored 9 of the final 11 points to secure the win. Kelsey Plum scored 14 of her 18 points in the period

Riquna Williams did not play (right foot)

Dearica Hamby scored in double figures for the 4th straight game and the 100th time in her career. She also grabbed 10 or more rebounds for the 25th time in her career, and recorded her 20th career double-double. Her 19 rebounds were a career high, and one off the franchise record.

A’ja Wilson recorded her 2nd double-double of the season (20 points, 15 rebounds), and the 39th of her career. That ranks 3rd on the Aces’ franchise list—Natalie Williams (Utah, 53), Margo Dydek (Utah, San Antonio, 41).

A’ja Wilson scored in double figures for the 2nd time this season and the 110th time in her 115-game career.

Jackie Young scored in double figures for the 4th straight game and the 42nd time in her career.

Kelsey Plum scored in double figures for the 9th straight game and the 66th time in her career.

Chelsea Gray scored in double figures for the 2nd time this season, and the 139th time in her career.
