BRADENTON, FL (August 6, 2020)—Las Vegas looks to extend its modest two-game winning streak this Friday as the Aces host the Los Angeles Sparks at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT on ESPN2.

The Aces improved to 3-2, Wednesday evening, with an 83-77 come-from-behind victory over the 2019 WNBA Champion Washington Mystics. A’ja Wilson and Danielle Robinson both poured in 20 points, and Dearica Hamby added a 12-point, 13-rebound double-double. It was Robinson’s first double-figure scoring effort of the season, giving Las Vegas eight players this year who have scored 10 or more points in a game at least once.

Wilson, a two-time All-Star, ranks third in the WNBA in scoring (19.8 ppg), and 6th in rebounding through games played August 5. Offseason free agent acquisition and five-time All-Star Angel McCoughtry is second on the team in scoring at 14.4 points per game, followed by 2019 Sixth Woman of the Year Dearica Hamby (13.2 ppg), and three-time All-Star Kayla McBride (11.4 ppg).

The Aces are averaging 106.3 points per 100 possessions which, should they maintain it, would be the second highest Offensive Efficiency Rating in franchise history (106.8, San Antonio, 2012). Las Vegas is the third most proficient three-point shooting team in the league (.377), but takes just 10.6 threes per game—by far the fewest in the WNBA. The Aces are once again making a living at the free throw line, taking a league-high 26.0 attempts per game.

Defensively, Las Vegas has the third best Defensive Efficiency Rating in the W at 97.7 points per 100 possessions, and leads the league in defensive rebound percentage (.804), and three-point field goal percentage allowed (.282).

The Sparks have alternated wins and losses throughout the 2020 campaign, beating Phoenix, Connecticut and Indiana, but falling to Chicago and Seattle.

Candace Parker is averaging a 13.6-point, 10.0 rebound double-double on the season, and leads a balanced Los Angeles offensive attack which boasts seven players with scoring average between 7 and 14. Nneka Ogwumike is averaging 13.3 points per game, and connecting on 60.5 percent of her field goal attempts, while Chelsea Gray adds 12.0 points per game, and Riquana Williams chips in with 11.0.

Las Vegas is 34-59 all-time against Los Angeles and two years ago, snapped a 10-game losing streak to the Sparks. The teams have split that last four meetings between the clubs.
