NEW YORK, NY (Aug. 29, 2023)—The WNBA announced today that Las Vegas Aces forward/center A’ja Wilson earned Western Conference Player of the Week honors for regular season games played from August 17-27. This marks Wilson’s 4th player of the week honor of the season and ups her franchise-record to 15 after earning it 5 times in 2022, twice in 2019 and 2020 and once each in 2021 and 2018.
Wilson averaged 26.2 point, 9.0 rebounds and 1.8 blocks over the 11 days while making 54.1 percent of her field goal attempts and 90.5 percent of her free throws.
On August 22, she tied the WNBA scoring record with a 53-point performance at Atlanta. She also went 20 for 21 from the free throw line that evening, making the second most free throws in a game in league history.
For the year, Wilson ranks 3rd in the league in scoring (21.9 ppg), 2nd in rebounding (9.5 rpg), 1st in blocks (2.17 bpg), 15th in steals (1.33 spg), and 4th in field goal percentage (.540).
The Aces are home for 3 of their final 4 regular season games beginning with a Thursday, August 31 meeting with the Washington Mystics at Michelob ULTRA Arena. Tip is slated for 7 pm PT, and the game is being broadcast locally on the Silver State Sports & Entertainment Network.
