LAS VEGAS (June 29, 2022)—Las Vegas Aces General Manager Natalie William announced today that the team has signed forward Dearica Hamby to a contract extension. The two-time Sixth Player of the Year was recently named to her second All-Star Team.
“We are very happy to re-sign two- time Sixth Player of the Year and two-time All-Star Dearica Hamby to a multi year contract extension,” said Williams. “She has been a key piece of our core group for several years now, and her energy and hustle will be invaluable to our future success.”
“I’m blessed,” allowed Hamby. “What we’ve been building in Las Vegas is incredibly special, and I’m excited to continue to be apart of it.”
The 8-year WNBA veteran was named an All-Star for the second straight season on Tuesday of this week. She is averaging 12.8 points, a career-high 8.9 rebounds and 1.39 steals on the year, while making 53.5 percent of her field goal attempts.
Since the Aces relocated to Las Vegas, Hamby is averaging 10.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.10 steals, while making 52.4 percent of her shots. She earned Sixth Player of the Year honors in 2019 and 2020. The Wake Forest grad has helped the Aces to playoff appearances in each of the last three seasons, and a WNBA Finals appearance in 2020.
