Las Vegas (May 19, 2020)—Las Vegas Aces General Manager Dan Padover announced today that the team has re-signed eight-year WNBA veteran center Carolyn Swords, and waived Avery Warley-Talbert and Lauren Manis.
“As we continue to look at the makeup of our team in 2020, we felt like Carolyn was the best fit for a role we needed to fill,” said Aces Head Coach and President of Basketball Operations Bill Laimbeer. “Carolyn was happy to jump back into our franchise as a player, and as she always has been, will continue to be a team player.”
In eight seasons in the WNBA, Swords has averaged 3.8 points and 3.1 rebounds per game while connecting on 54.0 percent of her field goal attempts.
In two seasons in Las Vegas, the 30-year-old Boston College grad has played in 55 regular season games, starting 16, while recording the first three double-doubles of her career. She led the WNBA in offensive rebound percentage in 2020.
The Aces signed Warley-Talbert to a training camp contract on March 20, 2020. The 33-year-old center has played with five different teams in her six-year WNBA career, averaging 2.6 points and 3.8 rebounds.
Las Vegas selected Manis in the third round (No. 33 overall) of the 2020 WNBA Draft. The Holy Cross graduate averaged 18.6 points and 11.5 rebounds as a senior, while connecting on 46.3 percent of her shots from three-point range.
