2011 WNBA Draft (April 11, 2011)
The 2010 season saw the Silver Stars advance to the playoffs for the fourth straight year, albeit with a 14-20 record. That gave San Antonio the sixth pick in the 2011 WNBA Draft, which the team used to select Oklahoma guard, and two-time All-American Danielle Robinson (pictured).
As a reserve and spot starter, Robinson averaged 8.2 points and 3.9 rebounds in her first pro season, making the All-Rookie Team while connecting on 46.0 percent of her shots from the field and 90.3 percent from the free throw line.
She moved into the starting lineup the following year, and remained there through the 2015 campaign. Robinson was named to the All-Star Team from 2013 through 2015, posting career highs in scoring in 2014 (12.9 points per game), and in assists in 2013 (6.7 assists per game). The San Jose, California native was named to the WNBA’s All-Defensive Second Team from 2012-14.
Robinson sat out the 2016 season with an Achilles injury, and San Antonio traded her to Phoenix in January of 2017 in exchange for Isabelle Harrison and the Mercury’s first round draft pick in 2017. Phoenix moved Robinson to Minnesota the following offseason where she stayed for two years, before signing with Las Vegas in 2020. In 2021 and 2022, she played in Indiana, and in 2023, Robinson played for the Atlanta Dream. Heading into the 2024 season, she ranks 11th on the WNBA’s career assists list.
In the second round, the Silver Stars took Texas A&M forward/center Danielle Adams. Adams played in 23 games for San Antonio as a rookie, and was named to the WNBA All-Rookie team after averaging 12.4 points and 4.3 rebounds, while ranking 13th in the league in field goal percentage (.500). She was also named as a reserve to the Western Conference All-Star Team.
For the next three years, Adams was a consistent double-digit scorer for the Silver Stars, and she averaged a career-high 14.4 points and 4.7 rebounds during the 2013 campaign.
Her production and playing time fell off somewhat in 2015 as Adams averaged what was then a career-low 7.4 points and played an average of 16.1 minutes per game.
San Antonio waived her prior to the 2016 season, but Adams signed with Connecticut in 2017 and played in 19 games as a reserve for the Sun.
In the third round, the Silver Stars selected Georgia forward Porsha Phillips, who averaged a double-double in her senior season with the Bulldogs.
Phillips played one eyar for San Antonio, appearing in 31 games as a rookie while averaging 1.8 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. The Silver Stars waived her prior to the start of the 2012 season.
