South Carolina Honors A'ja Wilson with Jersey Retirement

A'ja Wilson, who powered South Carolina to its first NCAA Championship, was honored by the program in a jersey retirement ceremony on Sunday. The 2018 graduate was the program’s first National Player of the Year and four-time All-American while becoming the first three-time SEC Player of the Year in league history. The first No. 1 recruit to sign with the Gamecocks, Wilson led her hometown team to its first NCAA Final Four and first National Championship and capped her career by becoming the program’s first No. 1 overall pick by the Las Vegas Aces.
Since arriving in the Sports & Entertainment Capital of the World, Wilson, among her many accomplishments, led the Aces to back-to-back WNBA titles in 2022 and 2023, earned three M'VP honors, one WNBA Finals M'VP, two Defensive Player of the Year awards and six WNBA All-Star nods. She also claimed two Olympic and two FIBA World Cup gold medals while representing the USA and the Aces.
