PHOENIX (October 3, 2021)—Brianna Turner recorded a 23-point, 17-rebound double-double Sunday afternoon as the Phoenix Mercury took a two-games-to-one lead over the Las Vegas Aces in their best-two-out-of-three WNBA Semifinals series with an 87-60 win.
First Quarter (Phoenix 26, Las Vegas 19)
The Mercury scored the first 11 points of the game. Brianna Turner scored 8 of the team’s first 17 points ass Phoenix made 47.8 percent of their field goals, and the Aces made 36.8 percent of theirs.
Second Quarter (Phoenix 46, Las Vegas 31)
The Aces made the first bucket of the second quarter, but Phoenix countered with 5 straight points. An 11-0 Mercury run late in the quarter game Phoenix its largest lead of the game at 19 , 46-27. Turner finished the half with a game-high 17 points.
Third Quarter (Phoenix 72, Las Vegas 52)
Kia Nurse drained a three-pointer to start the quarter, and Phoenix’s lead vacillated between 16 and 24 for the remainder of the period. Brittney Griner scored 10 points making 5 of 6 shots from the field as Phoenix made 61.1 percent of its shots in the quarter.
