Tokyo, Japan (August 4, 2021)—Chelsea Gray handed out a game-high 8 assists and scored 7 points as the U.S. Olympic Team dismantled Australia, 79-55, in their quarterfinals match up Wednesday.
Australia scored 5 of the first 7 points of the game, but the U.S. went on a 19-1 run and led for the remainder of the evening, pushing their advantage to as many as 29.
The United States, who lost to Australia two weeks ago in an Olympics tune up in Las Vegas, held the Opals to 30 percent shooting Wednesday.
Breanna Stewart poured in 23 points, including 20 in the first half. to lead the United States. A’ja Wilson recorded her fourth straight double-digit scoring effort with 10 points, and Brittney Griner added 15 points.
The U.S. will take on Serbia in the semifinals on August 5 at 9:40 pm PT.
