Las Vegas Picks Up First Win, 85-73, Over Visiting Washington Behind Wilson's Double-Double

LAS VEGAS, NV (June 1, 2018)—The Las Vegas Aces got a 26-point, 12-rebound double-double from rookie of the year candidate A’ja Wilson, and season-scoring-highs off the bench from Dearica Hamby (14 points) and Kelsey Bone (10) en route to an 85-73 victory over the Washington Mystics (5-2). It was the Aces’ (1-4) first win since relocating from San Antonio last fall.

KEY RUNS

The Aces led 10-9 with 5:08 to go in the first, and scored 11 of the next 13 points to go up 21-11. A’ja Wilson scored six of Las Vegas’ 11 during the run.

The Mystics cut the Aces’ lead to five early in the second quarter, 25-20, but Las Vegas went on a 9-1 run to go back up 13, 34-21.

The Aces eventually pushed their lead to 16 in the third quarter, 61-45, but Washington scored 11 of the next 12 points to make it a six-point game, 62-56.

Hamby scored 12 of her 14 points in the fourth quarter as the Aces held on for the win.

KEY STATS

The Washington Mystics came into the game leading the W in made three-pointers per game at 10.2. The Aces held them to just three made threes.

Las Vegas’ opponents outscored them by an average of 30 points in the team’s first four games, but the Mystics outscored the Aces by just three, 9-6, tonight.

Las Vegas outscored Washington 33-22 from the free throw line.
