Las Vegas Finalizes Inaugural Training Camp Roster

Las Vegas (April 24, 2018)—Las Vegas finalized its inaugural training camp roster this week, as 15 members of the Aces will begin competing for a regular season roster spot beginning Sunday, April 29.

Las Vegas currently has 22 players under contract, some of whom will not arrive in Las Vegas until after April 29 due to overseas commitments. Teams are permitted to have 15 players in camp until May 17 at 2 pm PT, when they must reduce their rosters to 12.

In addition to the Aces’ returnees, draftees, and offseason free agent signees, Las Vegas inked two additional players to contracts prior to the start of training camp—UNLV’s Brooke Johnson, and Mississippi State’s Morgan William.

Johnson was one of the top defenders in the Mountain West Conference throughout her career, leading the league in steals as a sophomore and junior, and finishing second as a senior. She helped lead the Lady Rebels to a share of their first-ever Mountain West regular season title in 2017-18, and was named conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Johnson is the second member of the Lady Rebels to earn Defensive Player of the Year honors. The first was current Las Vegas Aces guard Sequoia Holmes.

William is best remembered by college basketball fans as the woman who ended UConn’s four-year stranglehold on the national championship. It was her jumper at the buzzer that gave Mississippi State a 66-64, overtime victory over the Huskies in their 2017 national semifinal match-up.

William was named to the Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention Team as a junior and senior. She finished her collegiate career with 1,400 points, 656 assists and 181 steals.

Las Vegas tips off its first season of WNBA competition at Mandalay Bay Events Center on Sunday, May 27 at 5 pm PT. Season tickets may be purchased at LasVegasAces.com.
