Las Vegas And Connecticut Square Off In WNBA Semifinals Beginning Sunday at 10 am PT

Bradenton, FL (September 17, 2020)—After four days of waiting, the Las Vegas Aces finally know who their semifinals opponent will be. The WNBA re-seeds throughout the postseason, and as the No. 1 seed, the Aces take on No. 7 Connecticut in the best-three-out-of-five series. The Sun topped No. 6 Chicago, Tuesday, 94-81, and upended No. 3 seed Los Angeles this evening, 73-59. Game one of the WNBA Semifinals is slated to begin Sunday, September 20, at 1 pm ET/10 am PT on ESPN.

The Aces swept the season series from Connecticut winning 99-78 on August 20, and 93-78 on September 3. This year’s WNBA Most Valuable Player A’ja Wilson, averaged 22.5 points per game against the Sun this year, making 69.2 percent of her shots from the field. Kayla McBride connected on 73.7 percent of her shots vs. Connecticut, and averaged 17.5  point per game. As a team, Las Vegas shot 54.0 percent from the field, including 39.1 percent from three-point range, and made 89.7 percent of their free throws.

DeWanna Bonner paced the Sun in scoring against Las Vegas, averaging 16.0 points per game, but made just 40.9 percent of her shots from the field, and 14.3 percent from long range. Alyssa Thomas is the only other double-digit scorer against the Aces this season, averaging 15.0 points per game on 60.0 percent shooting. As a team, Connecticut made just 42.3 percent of its shots, and 26.2 percent from three-point range.
