Las Vegas Aces Sign Emma Cannon

LAS VEGAS (May 6, 2024)—Las Vegas Aces general manager Natalie Williams announced today that the team has signed 6-2 forward Emma Cannon as a free agent. She returns to the Aces after playing games for Las Vegas in 2020 and 2021, including all six of the Aces’ 2020 playoff contests.

Cannon, who was waived by the Dallas Wings during the 2024 training camp, played this past offseason in Turkey for Nesibe, and averaged 18.3 points and 10.3 rebounds over 26 games. She has played in Europe since 2011-12, including stints in Australia, Germany, Israel, Poland and Russia.

Cannon’s first taste of WNBA action came in 2017 with the Phoenix Mercury, with whom she also played in four playoff games. After her time with the 2020 Aces, Cannon played a total of 20 games combined in 2021 for Las Vegas, Connecticut and Indiana. After starting the 2022 season with Phoenix, Cannon was traded to Indiana, where she played in 53 games in 2022 and 2023.

Cannon was a standout during her three seasons at Central Florida, breaking the school rebounding record and earning C-USA Tournament MVP honors in leading the Knights to the NCAA Tournament. Cannon transferred to Florida Southern for her senior season, leading the Mocs to the Division II Regional Final. The All-America honorable mention went undrafted in 2011, before tipping-off her professional career in Germany.

The Aces, who will play a preseason game against Puerto Rico on May 11 in South Carolina, tip-off their season against Phoenix at 7 pm on May 14 at Michelob ULTRA Arena. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, as prior to the game the Aces will receive their 2023 WNBA Championship rings and unveil their championship banner in Michelob ULTRA Arena.
