GAME RECAP: Wilson Scores 26, McCoughtry Adds 24 As Aces Top Sparks, 86-82

Palmetto, FL (August 7, 2020)—The Las Vegas Aces (4-2) got a season-high 26 points from two-time All-Star A’ja Wilson Friday evening, and an additional 24 from five-time All-Star Angel McCoughtry, to run their winning streak to three straight with an 86-82 victory over the visiting Los Angeles Sparks (3-3).


First Quarter (Las Vegas 22, Los Angeles 19)

Neither team led by more than five points in the period.

Second Quarter (Las Vegas 43, Los Angeles 42)

Las Vegas scored the first nine points of the quarter to go up 12, 31-19. The Aces still led by 10, 39-29, with 3:32 left in the half, but Los Angeles scored 13 of the final 17 points of the half to cut the lead to one, 43-42

Third Quarter (Los Angeles 64, Las Vegas 63)

The game was tied two times, and the lead changed hands five times, but neither team led by more than 5 points in the quarter.

Fourth Quarter (Las Vegas 86, Los Angeles 82)

The Sparks increased their lead to three, 71-68, with 6:06 to go in the game, but the Aces scored 10 of the next 12 to hold off Los Angeles.

The Aces went 4-7 from three-point range, while the Los Angeles went 6 for 20

Las Vegas outrebounded the Sparks 42-33.

Angel McCoughtry scored in double figures for the 5th game this season, and the 265th time in her career (24 points). It was also her 2nd game of 20 or more points on the year, and the 141st of her career.
