GAME RECAP: Wilson, Cambage Help Aces Close Strong In, 85-78, Win Over Dallas

LAS VEGAS (June 13, 2021)—A’ja Wilson scored a game-high 28 points, and she and Liz Cambage combined to score the final 10 points of the day for Las Vegas as the Aces (8-3) pulled away late from the Dallas Wings (5-6) in an 85-78 victory.

First Quarter (Las Vegas 27, Dallas 22)

Las Vegas led by four, 18-14, and went on a 7-0 run to extend their lead to 11, 25-14. Dallas closed the period scoring 8 of the last 10 points.  Seven different players scored in the quarter for the Aces. Satou Sabally scored 10 points for the Wings to lead all scorers.

Second Quarter (Las Vegas 43, Dallas 41)

Dallas went on a 7-0 run early in the second to re-take the lead. The teams then traded the lead 6 times and were tied 3 times. Marina Mabrey scored 8 points to lead all scorers in the quarter.

Third Quarter (Las Vegas 65, Dallas 63)

Neither team led by more then 4 points in the period as they traded the lead 4 times, and were tied 4 times. A’ja Wilson scored 12 points in the quarter.

Fourth Quarter (Las Vegas 85, Dallas 78)

A’ja Wilson and Liz Cambage combined to score the Aces’ final 10 points as they turned a two-point advantage into a 10-point lead to put the game away.

Las Vegas held Dallas to 20.8 percent shooting (5 for 24) from three-point range, which was the lowest percentage of the year for the Wings. The Aces made 4 of 12 from long range.
