GAME RECAP: Plum’s Career-High 32 Powers Aces Past Liberty, 100-78

LAS VEGAS (June 15, 2021)—The Las Vegas Aces erased an 11-point New York lead Tuesday evening, cruising to a, 100-78, victory over the visiting Liberty. Kelsey Plum poured in a career-high 32 points in the win.

First Quarter (New York 26, Las Vegas 22)

The Liberty went on a 7-0 run midway through the quarter turning a two-point Aces edge into a five-point New York advantage. Both teams committed 4 turnovers in the period, but the Liberty outscored Las Vegas 10-2 on those turnovers.

Second Quarter (Las Vegas 48, New York 45)

New York extended its lead to 11, 39-28 with 5:50 remaining, but Las Vegas countered with a 200-3 run of its own to retake the lead. Kelsey Plum (9) and Dearica Hamby (7) combined to score 16 points in the period.

Third Quarter (Las Vegas 73, New York 60)

The Liberty cut the Las Vegas advantage to one on two occasions, and trailed by just three, 59-56, with 4:07 to go in the quarter, but the Aces scored 8 straight to go back up double digits.  The  Aces made 66.7 percent of their field goals in the quarter (12 for 18)

Fourth Quarter (Las Vegas 100, New York 78)

A 10-2 Aces run to open the quarter put the game out of reach. Plum scored 13 points in the period en route to her career scoring high.

Liz Cambage scored in double figures for the 12th game this season, and the 110th time in her career (14 points). She also grabbed 11 rebounds for her 4th double-double this year and the 37th of her career.

Dearica Hamby grabbed the 1,000th rebound of her career midway through the fourth quarter.
