LAS VEGAS (May 23, 2026) – The Las Vegas Aces (4-2) were unable to overcome hot shooting by the Sparks and eventually fell short in a 101-95 loss to Los Angeles (3-3) at Michelob ULTRA Arena on Saturday night. A’ja Wilson scored a team-high 24 points to go with 15 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 4 blocked shots; Chennedy Carter scored 23 off the bench; NaLyssa Smith recorded season-highs of 22 points and 9 rebounds; Chelsea Gray added 12 points and 7 assists and Jewell Loyd scored 10.

Kelsey Plum led all scorers with a season-high 38 points for the Sparks, who also received double figure scoring from 5 other players.

1st Quarter Highlights (Los Angeles 32, Las Vegas 30)
Wilson scored the first six points for the Aces, but Las Vegas trailed in an early 7-6 deficit. The score remained close, neither team held more than a 4-point lead in a period that saw 5 lead changes and 4 knotted scores. LA shot a blistering 66.7% from both 3-point land (6-9 3pt FGs) and from the field (12-18 FGs), surpassing their high of 5 3-pointers in a quarter this season. Plum sank all of her 4 3-point attempts to lead all scorers with 14 points. 2nd Quarter Highlights (Las Vegas 52, Los Angeles 46)
The two sides swapped scores until buckets by Gray and Smith gave the Aces a 40-36 lead. LA then recorded a 7-point swing to take the lead back at 43-40, until Smith responded with 5 straight to give the Aces a 45-43 lead with less than 3 minutes to spare. Las Vegas broke a 45-45 tie by going on a 7-1 run to end the quarter. The Aces hit on 8 of 18 (.444) from the field and 3 of 5 (.600) from 3-point and held LA to 16.7% (1-6 3pt FGs) from distance and 37.5% (6-16 FGs) from the floor. Smith led all scorers with 7, while Cameron Brink and Dearica Hamby scored 5 apiece for the Sparks.

3rd Quarter Highlights (Las Vegas 73, Los Angeles 72)
After pushing their lead to 57-48, the Aces watched it vanish as the Sparks went on a 12-0 run over the next 2:25 to claim a 60-57 lead. After a Smith and-1, Wilson hit her first bucket since 1:30 to move back into the lead, 62-60. Seven of the quarter’s 8 lead changes occurred in the second half of the quarter. During the scoring seesaw, Wilson tallied 11 points on 4 of 5 shooting and grabbed 3 rebounds. Plum led all scorers with 12 points and Wilson’s 11 paced the Aces. An 8 point LA swing flipped the board to 80-73 to bring the Aces to their biggest deficit of the night. Las Vegas tied the game twice, but could never overcome the hump. The Aces shot a cold 1 of 8 (.125) from 3 and 7 of 18 (.389) from the floor; the Sparks hit 57.1% (4-7 3FGs) of their 3-pointers and netted 62.5% (10-16 FGs) of their shots. Plum led all scorers with 12 points, while Smith notched 7 for the Aces.

Carter hit a career-high 4 3-pointers and was perfect from behind the arc; her previous best was 3 3s, which she hit on two occasions.

Tonight’s game marked double-double No. 122 for Wilson, which ranks No. 5 among the league’s all-time leaders.

Wilson now has 166 career games with at least 20 points, which lists No. 3 behind Tina Charles (190) and Diana Taurasi (259) on the all-time list.

Wilson, who grabbed 13 defensive boards, became the 13th player in WNBA history to 2,000 defensive rebounds. In securing her 2,000th in game No. 273 and at age 29 years and 288 days, she became the fastest (Breanna Stewart, 277) and second youngest (Charles, 29 years, 239 days) to that mark.
