UNCASVILLE, CT (June 7, 2023)—Facing the Sun (6-2) for the second time in 48 hours and sixth time over their last 11 games (dating to the 2022 WNBA Finals series), the Aces enter Thursday night’s game with a perfect 7-0 record after claiming a 6-point victory on Tuesday night in Connecticut. The game, scheduled for a 4 pm PT tip, will be broadcast on FOX 5 and the Silver State Sports & Entertainment Network.

(Game Notes)

In Tuesday night’s game, the Aces assisted on each of their first 13 made field goals to start the game, and rounded out the night with 25 dimes on 32 buckets. A’ja Wilson tallied 23 points and 10 rebounds; Jackie Young finished with 22 points, 7 caroms and 6 assists; Kelsey Plum notched 17 points and 6 assists; and Chelsea Gray chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Rebecca Allen, who had 2 points in the first half, scored 14 points in the 4th quarter and topped out for the Sun with 22. Alyssa Thomas grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and scored 14 points.

Las Vegas has four players scoring in double figures, including Young with a career-best 21.9 ppg. to go with 3.4 apg. and 2.14 spg.; while Wilson (21.0 ppg., 8.9 rpg.), Plum (14.7 ppg., 4.6 apg.) and Gray (13.7 ppg., 7.0 apg.) round out the four.

Connecticut also features four players scoring in double digits, led by Brionna Jones (14.9 ppg., 8.0 rpg., 2.5 apg., 2.0 spg.), DeWanna Bonner (14.6 ppg.), Thomas (14.4 ppg., 11.5 rpg., 6.6 apg.) and Tiffany Hayes (12.0 ppg., 2.6 apg.)

The Aces, who have played 5 of their 7 games on the road, won their first four games by an average of 24.8 points a game. However, they have been challenged on their current 4-game road trip and their last 3 wins came by an average of 4.3 ppg. Still, the Aces, who are experiencing their best start in franchise history, are averaging an eye-popping 93.1 ppg. and netting 48.5% of their field goals and 81.6% from the line.

Wilson is on the precipice of a major career milestone—she has scored 2,996 points since her league debut in 2018. She has scored in double figures in 31-straight games and has never scored fewer than 4 points in a WNBA game. Should she hit the milestone as expected Thursday night, Wilson will become, at 26 years, 303 days, the fifth-youngest player to score 3,000 points in her career (Lauren Jackson, 25 years, 27 days).

Further, if Wilson does so against Connecticut, she will have reached the 3,000 points mark in her 157th game, which is the 7th fewest games needed to reach the mark (Elena Delle Donne, 148).

The Aces are 20-32 all-time during the regular season against Connecticut, but 6-3 in the postseason where they have won both series vs. the Sun. Las Vegas won two of three games against Connecticut during the 2022 regular season before winning three of four in the WNBA Finals.

Following their June 8 game, the Aces return home for a 3-game stint, June 11-18 against the Sky (June 11), Storm (June 15) and the Lynx (June 18).
