GAME PREVIEW: Second Aces vs Dallas Semifinal Clash Set for Tuesday Night

LAS VEGAS (September 25, 2023)—The Las Vegas Aces, who claimed the first game in the best-of-five Semifinal series against the Dallas Wings, are looking to go up 2-0 on Tuesday, September 26, at Michelob ULTRA Arena. Tip-off is set for 7 pm and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Sunday’s Game 1 featured A’ja Wilson scoring 34 points on 15 of 21 from the field to go with 8 boards and 4 blocked shots; Jackie Young securing her first playoff double-double with 19 points and 10 caroms, missing out on a triple-double by 3 assists; and Kelsey Plum and Young hitting the bottom of the net for 5 3-pointers apiece as the Aces claimed a 97-83 victory. The Wings had 6 players score in double figures on Sunday, led by Satou Sabally’s 16.

The Aces have won each of the last 9 games at home against Dallas. The last time the Wings claimed victory in Las Vegas was a 107-102 affair on Aug. 17, 2018. Since that date, the Aces are 14-2 overall against the Wings.

The Aces and Wings are the two highest scoring and rebounding teams in the 2023 postseason. Led by A’ja Wilson’s 28.7 ppg and 10.7 rpg, the Aces are No. 2 in scoring (92.0 ppg) and No. 1 in rebounding (40.3 rpg), while the Wings are No. 1 in scoring (92.7 ppg) and No. 2 for rebounding (38.0 rpg). Sabally leads Dallas in scoring at a clip of 20.3 ppg, while Teaira McCowan, who is averaging 12.0 ppg, tops Dallas on the glass with 12.7 rpg.

The Aces and Wings benches scored the fewest points of any team over the course of the season, with the Aces scoring a low of 13.5 ppg and the Wings the second-lowest of 14.1 ppg. Dallas has gone in the opposite direction in the postseason with the Wings bench scoring a playoff-high 25.3 ppg, while the Aces reserves are scoring 13.0 ppg, a half point off their regular season mark of 13.5 ppg. In Semifinal Game 1, the Dallas bench outscored Las Vegas’ 27-4.

Following Tuesday night’s game, the series will move to Dallas for Game 3 on Friday, Sept. 29 (6:30 pm PT on ESPN2). If necessary, Game 4 will be played in Dallas on Oct. 1 and Game 5 in Las Vegas on Oct. 3.
