GAME PREVIEW: Las Vegas Aces Take on Minnesota Lynx at Home Sunday
LAS VEGAS (June 17, 2023)–The Las Vegas Aces (9-1) take on the surging Minnesota Lynx (3-7), who have gone 3-1 over their past four games after starting 0-6, on Sunday evening at Michelob ULTRA Arena at 6 pm PT. The game will be broadcast on Silver State Sports & Entertainment Network and NBA TV, and on the radio at ESPN Las Vegas 100.9 FM and 1100 AM.
The Aces and Lynx last played May 28 in Las Vegas, with the Aces picking up a 94-73 win behind 23 points from Jackie Young, 21 from A’ja Wilson, 19 points and 10 assists from Chelsea Gray, and 11 points apiece from Alysha Clark and Kelsey Plum. Napheesa Collier scored a team-high 21 points and Jessica Shepard grabbed a game-high 15 caroms for the Lynx. The Aces took the lead 4:08 into the contest and never again trailed.
The Aces lead the league in scoring (91.8 ppg.), field goal percentage (50%), steals (9.1 spg.) and points in the paint (41.2 per game); and rank second in assists (21.7 apg.), 3-pointers made (85) and fast-break points (14.5 per game.). The Aces have scored at least 90 points in 8 of their 10 games this season.
Jackie Young (20.5 ppg.) and A’ja Wilson (19.5 ppg.) are at the top of the Aces scoring, and list 5th and 9th, respectively, among league leaders. Kelsey Plum adds 15.4 ppg. and Gray 13.5 ppg. Wilson tops the Aces in rebounding (8.6 rpg.), which ranks 8th in the WNBA.
In addition to their scoring prowess, numerous Aces are among the top 5 in league statistical rankings. Gray is tied for 1st for 3-point percentage (50%) and 3rd in assists (6.2 apg.); Young (60%) and Wilson (55.8%) rank 3rd and 5th, respectively, in field goal percentage; Gray and Candace Parker are tied for 4th in steals (1.8 spg.); Wilson is 4th in blocked shots (2.0 bpg.) and 2nd in points in the paint per game (11.4).
Led by Collier’s league 4th-best 20.7 ppg. and 7.0 rpg. (14th), the Lynx, which are coming of home-and-away wins over Los Angeles, are further bolstered by veterans Kayla McBride (14.2 ppg.), Tiffany Mitchell (11.4 ppg., 2.9 apg.) and rookie Diamond Miller (10.4 ppg., 2.2 apg.). McBride did not play in two of Minnesota’s losses, including against the Aces.

It will mark the first meeting between the two teams, which have faced off 94 times previously in the regular season. The Mercury own a 53-41 record over the Aces, but the Aces have won the last five games and 7 of the past 10 meetings, including playoffs.
