GAME PREVIEW: Aces vs. Minnesota, May 19, 2019 (preseason)

LAS VEGAS (May 18, 2019)—Las Vegas hosts the Minnesota Lynx this Sunday, May 19 at Cox Pavilion in the Aces’ lone preseason game of 2019. Tip is slated for 2 pm PT, and TC Martin brings the call of the game to ESPN Radio (1100 AM/100.9 FM).

The Aces are coming off a season that saw them finish with a 14-20 record—just two games out of a playoff berth. They return all five starters— unanimous WNBA Rookie of the Year honoree A’ja Wilson, two-time All-Star Kayla Mcbride, Kelsey Plum, Carolyn Swords and Tamera Young. Also back this season are Kelsey Bone, Dearica Hamby, Jaime Nared and JiSu Park.

Added to the mix are 2019 overall number one draft pick Jackie Young; seventh-year guard Sugar Rodgers, acquired from the New York Liberty in a three-team trade; and two-time All-Star Liz Cambage, who joins the team Sunday morning, mere days after being traded to Las Vegas from Dallas in exchange for guard Moriah Jefferson, forward Isabelle Harrison, and the Aces’ 2020 first and second round draft picks.

Saniya Chong, Alex Harden and Sydney Colson round out the Aces’ training camp roster.

Minnesota has played two preseason games to date—a 94-53 win over the Chinese National Team, and an 86-79 win over the Washington Mystics.

The Lynx will have a new look this year, as they will be playing without six-time All-Star Maya Moore, who is taking the season off to focus on her faith and related goals she wants to pursue. Minnesota also is without the WNBA’s career rebound leader, as Rebekkah Brunson retired following the 2018 campaign.

The four-time WNBA Champions still have three-time All-Star Danielle Robinson, five-time All-Star Sylvia Fowles and eight-time All-Star Seimone Augustus in the fold, and they added eight-year veteran forward Karima Christmas-Kelly during the offseason.

Minnesota took two-out-of-three from the Aces last season, winning both games at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
