The Liberty snapped a long losing streak Sunday, upending Las Vegas 88-78 in White Plains, New York, and they now bring a two-game winning streak into the weekend. Las Vegas brings one of the league’s most potent defenses into the game as they lead the WNBA in opponent field goal percentage, and adjusted opponent field goal percentage, while ranking second in defensive rebound percentage and Defensive Efficiency Rating (points allowed per 100 possessions).
Two-time All-Star Kayla McBride leads the Aces offensive at 17.2 points per game, which is the fifth highest scoring average in in the league. She also ranks sixth in the WNBA in field goal percentage (.533) and first in three-point field goal percentage (.600). McBride has made at least one three-point in 23 straight games, which is the longest active streak in the league.
Two-time All-Star center Liz Cambage, acquired in a training camp trade from the Dallas Wings, is second on the team in scoring at 14.4 points per game, and she has scored in double figures in 36 consecutive games, which is the longest active streak in the W.
Tina Charles leads a trio of double-figure scorers for New York averaging 21.3 points per game—the second highest scoring average in the league. Asia Durr leads all rookie in scoring (12.0 ppg) and is second among first-year players in field goal percentage (.472).
The Aces swept the season series from the Liberty a year ago, before dropping the first meeting between the clubs this year.
