Leading up to Teacher Appreciation Week, 85 educators and staff from across Clark County School District were invited to the Las Vegas Aces headquarters for a dinner on Friday, May 1, to be recognized for their dedication to education for the next generation of students. Five standout CCSD teachers and/or staff were honored after being nominated by students, peers and principals.
The five awards included:
- Above & Beyond Award - Awarded for exceptional dedication to student success
- Tiffany Tatem, Roy Middle School
- Unsung Hero Award: celebrating support staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure a safe, clean learning environment
- Jeniffer Calimbahin, CCSD Community Engagement Department
- Innovative Teacher Award: Recognizes creative, new and engaging classroom practices
- Dr. Anthony Boccia, Escobedo Middle School
- Community Impact Award: Honors an individual who has built strong school-community relationships
- Karla Maria Garcia, Sunrise Mountain High School
- Student Champion Award: Awards an individual who consistently advocate for and support students’ well-being and success
- Cassie Loreal Taylor, Silverado High School
