Becky Hammon/James Wade Named All-Star Head Coaches

NEW YORK (June 24, 2022)—The Las Vegas Aces’ Becky Hammon and Chicago Sky’s James Wade will serve as head coaches for the AT&T WNBA All-Star Game, which will be played on Sunday, July 10 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, home of the defending champion Chicago Sky (ABC,10 am PT). Hammon and Wade will be joined on the bench by their respective coaching staffs.

With the Las Vegas Aces (13-3, .813) guaranteed of having the best record in the WNBA through June 24, Hammon will coach “Team Wilson,” led by Las Vegas’ A’ja Wilson, the AT&T WNBA All-Star starter who received the most fan votes in All-Star voting, and co-captain Sue Bird of the Seattle Storm.  Chicago (12-5, .706) is guaranteed to have the second-best record through June 24.  As a result, Wade will guide “Team Stewart,” led by Seattle’s Breanna Stewart, the All-Star starter with the second-most votes among fans, and by co-captain Sylvia Fowles of the Minnesota Lynx.

Hammon, who was selected to the AT&T WNBA All-Star Game six times during her WNBA playing career, is an All-Star head coach for the first time. Wade also will be serving as an All-Star Game head coach for the first time.
