A’ja Wilson Named Western Conference Player of the Week

LAS VEGAS, NV (July 6, 2021)—The WNBA announced today that Las Vegas Aces forward and reigning league M’VP A’ja Wilson is the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played from June 28-July 4.

The three-time All-Star and 2021 US Olympian helped the Aces to a 3-0 week which saw them leap into the top spot in the WNBA Standings with a 14-4 record. Las Vegas upended the Los Angeles Sparks twice on the road, and the Atlanta Dream at home.

Wilson averaged 18.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per game as the Aces ran their winning streak to four games, and 9 out of their last 10. She recorded double-doubles in each of the wins over the Sparks—her seventh and league-leading 8th double-doubles of the year.

The South Carolina grad narrowly missed out on her 9th double-double of the season in a 19-point, 9 rebound performance in the win over the Dream. In that game, the Aces broke their single-game scoring record for the second time this year, pouring in 118 points—the fourth highest scoring game in WNBA history.
