Aces Re-Sign Center Kiah Stokes

Las Vegas, NV (February 3, 2022)—Las Vegas Aces Head Coach Becky Hammon announced today that the team has re-signed center Kiah Stokes (KEY-uh STOAKS).

“Historically the Aces have been one of the top rebounding teams in the league,” said Hammon, “and we’re happy that Kiah is returning to Las Vegas to help us maintain that status. She’s one of the best percentage rebounders in the game, and she also brings a high-percentage shot to the table on the offensive side of the ball.”

“I’m so happy to be back with the Aces this season,” said Stokes. “I love it in Las Vegas, and I’m also really looking forward to the opportunity to play for Becky. She has meant so much to this league, and brings so much to this team. I’m excited to learn from one of the best.”

The Aces originally signed Stokes on July 2, 2021. She averaged 8.9 rebounds per game over the last  7 games of the regular season, helping Las Vegas secure the number two seed in the WNBA Playoffs. The Iowa native also connected on 58.8 percent of her field goals for the Aces in 2021, which was her highest percentage since the 2016 season, when she made 64.1 percent on the year.

Stokes has been one of the most prolific rebounders in the league since the New York Liberty drafted the three-time national champion out of UConn with the 11th overall pick in the 2015 WNBA Draft. Of players who have played at least 2,000 minutes since that time, Stokes ranks 9th in rebound percentage (16.4), 13th in defensive rebound percentage (23.0), and 14th in offensive rebound percentage (9.3).

Her career field goal percentage of 52.4 percent is the 9th highest in the league since 2015 among players with at least 300 made field goals.
