LAS VEGAS (July 28, 2026) – In a game in which 9 players were in the scoring column and the home side never trailed, the Las Vegas Aces (19-8) extinguished the Portland Fire (11-17) 98-83 on Tuesday evening at Michelob ULTRA Arena. Completing the season sweep, A’ja Wilson and Jackie Young combined for 53 points — Wilson notched a game-high 28 points and 14 rebounds and Young tallied 25 points. The Aces also received 17 points and 7 assists from Chelsea Gray and 11 points from Jewell Loyd.

Megan DiLeo, neé Gustafson, led Portland with 20 points as one of 4 double figure scorers for the Fire.

1st Quarter Highlights (Las Vegas 36, Portland 21)
The Aces got off to a hot start, resulting in an early 18-4 lead with just under 5 minutes gone by. Portland responded with 8 straight to cut it to 18-12, but the Aces quickly countered with a 14-5 spurt that ended with the Aces up 32-17 with under two minutes left. Las Vegas notched its highest quarter scoring output this season with 36 points and a 17-point lead with 34 seconds left before Portland ended the frame with a pair of made free throws. Both teams shot well from the floor — the Aces hit 76.5% (13-17 FGs) of their overall attempts, and went 7 of 8 (.875) from distance, and the Fire hit 53.3% (8-15 FGs) of their shots and 42.9% (3-7 3FGs) of their 3-point attempts. Wilson led all scorers with 10 points, while DiLeo led the opposition with 7.

2nd Quarter Highlights (Las Vegas 53, Portland 37)
The Fire were in striking distance after starting the second quarter with a 6-0 run to cut the Aces’ lead to single digits, 36-27. The Fire then cut it down to as little as 6 on multiple occasions before the Aces scored the last 10 points of the half for a 16-point lead at the midway point. The Aces netted 46.2% (6-13 FGs) from the floor and the Fire shot a cold 25% (4-16 FGs) overall. The teams hit a combined 1 of 11 from deep. 3rd Quarter Highlights (Las Vegas 79, Portland 64)
The Aces lead was again cut to single digits after a 9-2 Portland spurt started the second half. After Las Vegas brought the lead up to 10, 59-49, the Fire chipped away and dwindled the Aces’ lead to 5, 63-58, its closest margin since the game’s opening seconds. However, Las Vegas was bolstered by buckets from 5 different players in a 16-6 run to end the third and reclaim a comfortable lead. The Aces connected on 66.7% (10-15 FGs) from the field and the Fire made 52.6% (10-19 FGs). Both teams made 33.3% of their 3-point attempts — 2 of 6 for the Aces and 3 of 9 for the Fire. Las Vegas maintained its double figure lead through the entirety of the final frame, expanding by as many as 17 and halted any significant Portland runs on the defensive end. The Aces cooled to 33.3% shooting from the field, and didn’t hit on any of their 3 3-point attempts, but limited the Fire to 27.8% (5-18 FGs) overall and 2 of 9 (.222) from distance. Wilson led all with 8 points and no player scored more than 5 for Portland.

GAME NOTES

Wilson has now scored in double figures in a league-leading 49 consecutive games and hit the 20-point mark in 8 straight games, which is the second-longest streak in the league.

Wilson chalked up her 13^th double-double on the season and 133^rd of her career, which ranks 5^th among all-time WNBA leaders.

Wilson now has a league second-most 103 20-point double-doubles on her career, upping her league-high total on the season to 13.

Recent Aces signee Mai Yamamoto made her WNBA debut and Ta’Niya Latson, who was a development player for Las Angeles before signing a developmental player contract with the Aces, was activated and saw her first action in an Aces uniform.

With her 17 points tonight, Gray surpassed 4,500 in an Aces uniform and is the 7th player in franchise history to reach that milestone.

With her 4 made 2-pointers, Gray, who now has 663 in an Aces uniform, passed Kelsey Plum (662) to move into No. 8 in franchise history.

The Aces were without the services of Kierstan Bell (right leg), Cheyenne Parker-Tyus (concussion) and NaLyssa Smith (illness).

With 10,240 fans in attendance on Tuesday, the Aces reached their 59th consecutive sellout at ‘The House.’
