2018 Year In Review: Moriah Jefferson

San Antonio selected Moriah Jefferson with the second overall pick in the 2016 WNBA Draft, and she turned in an All-Rookie Team performance that season.

Unfortunately, Jefferson was injured during the 2017 campaign, and continued to rehab during the first half of 2018. Although she didn’t see the court until July 1, Jefferson became well-acquainted with Aces’ fans, as she spent the first four months of the year making appearances in the Las Vegas community.

Once she made her return, Jefferson served as the team’s back-up point guard. Through her first six games, she handed out 19 assists, while committing just four turnovers.

After missing five of her first six shots, she found her rhythm by going 9 for 18 over her next four games. Jefferson closed out the year by making 13 of her last 28 shots.

In just her third game back from injury, Jefferson scored nine points, handed out five assists, and didn’t commit a single turnover in Las Vegas’ July 7 victory over Connecticut. She scored a season-high 11 points in the team’s August 11 win over Indiana

Jefferson is playing for Galatasaray in the Turkish League as well as in the EuroCup. In Turkish League play, she is averaging 13.6 points, 4.7 assists, 3.1 steals, and 2.7 rebounds per game. Galatasaray is 7-5 in the Turkish League, and in fifth place.

In EuroCup competition, Jefferson leads the team in scoring at 16.3 points per game, and is averaging 3.7 steals, 3.7 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game. She makes 46.7 percent of her shots from the field, and has Galatasaray at the top of the Group B standings with a 5-1 record,
